Other David LaMotte Stuff on the Web
www.pegpartners.org
- the non-profit organization founded by David
and his wife Deanna in the 2004 to work with Guatemalan schools.
www.davidlamottefan.com
- the fan page! Run by Barb Ruehl, a.k.a. Starchild. It's
cool, check it out!
www.myspace.com/davidlamotte
- check out some song samples and video and such and sign
up to be David's "friend."
Barack
Obama blog - David's blog about Barack, his pick for Pres.
CDBaby.com
- our favorite online retailer. These guys are great in all
sorts of ways; they do good business, they shine with integrity,
and they're full of smart-aleck attitude. Of course you can
also buy CDs through this
web site, but be sure to check out some of the other artists
on CDBaby.
Wedding
Vows - OK, so this is kind of random,
but since they're on the web, might as well link to them.
These are David and Deanna's wedding vows from their wedding(s)
in the summer of 2003.
Instruments and Music Stuff
Taylor
Guitars
- David owns two Taylors, a 912-ce and a K14-ce with a cedar
top. The folks at Taylor have been kind enough to provide
David with an artist sponsorship deal, but they were already
his favorite guitars before that.
John
Pearse Strings - David's favorite strings (again,
even before they gave him an artist deal!).
Acoustic
Corner - Black Mountain, NC's finest guitar
store (well, they'd still be the finest even if there were
another one!)
Folk
Alliance - North American Folk Music and
Dance organization - David goes to the conference every year.
It's part family reunion, part music business conference and
part festival.
Web site stuff
Integritive
- John Miles & Scott and the crew have logged many hours
on this site, and do great work keeping it in shape these
days. Asheville based (support local business when you can!)
sky-dog
- John Gallagher did the original design work
on this site as well as the 'old' site, and also did the cover
art for David's children's CD, S.S.
Bathtub.
BFDnet.net
- Kurt and the gang provide the web hosting services and have
bailed us out of many a technical snafu.
Manufacturers, Printers,
etc.
NWDiscs
- Best CD manufacturing prices and
service we've found. If you've been through the process before
and don't need to be walked through the details, NW Discs is
the way to go. Andrew Ratshin is the guy to talk to.
Oasis
Manufacturing - Oasis will walk you through
the CD manufacturing process from start to finish. They do
good work and are good folks.
T.S.
Designs - These folks manufacture T-shirts
using innovative printing technology that avoids PVC inks,
and print them on organic cotton sewn in worker-owned cooperatives.
Check out the movie "Ants That Moved Mountains"
on their website.
Maggie's
Organics - make the t-shirts that T.S. Designs
uses. They also make lots of other clothes, bedding, etc.
News sources and organizations
David uses and supports
(David gets asked about this a lot, so we
thought we'd post it here)
Alternet
- the rest of the story.
Truthout.org
- great investigative reporting.
Democracy
Now - the best of radio news.
American
Friends Service Committee - Quaker outreach
and international news.
Pilgrims
of Ibillin - the U.S. support network for the
efforts of Father Elias Chacour toward peace, justice and
reconciliation in the Middle East.
Palestinian
Children's Relief Fund - Providing health care
and medical supplies to Palestinian children.
Presbyterian
Peacemaking Office - these folks run a solid
web site with all sorts of important information.
Habitat
for Humanity - David attended his first Habitat
work week in Immokalee, Florida when he was fourteen, and
has maintained a connection ever since. One dollar from the
sale of each copy of his very first recording, Barefoot, still
goes to HFH.
Rolling
Thunder - The brainchild of Texas politician
and activist Jim Hightower, The Rolling Thunder Downhome Democracy
Tour is a traveling networking event that features speakers,
musicians, poets and activists who are trying to make a difference.
David got to appear at the Asheville NC Rolling Thunder along
with Jim Hightower, Granny D, Laura Love and Patch Adams.
Google
News - Yep, Google. If you click on the "News"
tab on the google search engine web site, it takes you to
the google news page, which lists the same stories from tons
of different sources.
